Alpha-terpinene is one of three isomeric monoterpenes differing in the positions of their two double bonds (beta- and gamma-terpinene being the others). In alpha-terpinene the double bonds are at the 1- and 3-positions of the p-menthane skeleton. It has a role as a volatile oil component and a plant metabolite. It is a monoterpene and a cyclohexadiene.

ALPHA-TERPINENE CAS 99-86-5
Alpha-Terpinene, a cyclic monoterpene, is found in various essential oils. It is responsible for the antioxidant activity of tea tree oil. Alpha-Terpinene can be used as an organic reductant in the guaiacol deoxygenation to yield phenols using V 2 O 5 /Al 2 O 3 catalyst. Alpha-Terpinene is commonly employed as flavoring additive in foods and beverages, as fragrance in cosmetics, and as scent in household products.
